Product Information
- 2-Bromomethyl-6-pyridine
- 2-Bromomethyl-6-Pyridine Carboxylic Acid Ethyl Ester
- Methyl 6-(Bromomethyl)Pyridine-2-Carboxylate
2,6-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid methyl ester is a compound that has been synthesized by the reaction of 2-bromomethyl-6-pyridinecarboxylic acid and methyl alcohol. The compound has been proven to be a strong inhibitor of photosystem II and can inhibit electron transport in photosystem I. It is thought that this compound binds to the Mg2+ ions in the active site of the enzyme and prevents coordination with other divalent metal ions. This prevents the enzyme from functioning properly, which leads to decreased electron transport. 2,6-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid methyl ester is an analog of pyridine dicarboxylic acid.
