It is a chemokine receptor antagonist and has been shown to promote the proliferation of stem/progenitor cells. The compound binds to chemokine receptors CXCR4 and CXCR5, blocking the binding of chemokines such as SDF1α and stromal derived factor 1β (SDF1β), which are important for the recruitment and survival of hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow microenvironment.
