Product Information
- 2-Pyrimidinecarbonitrile, 5-(Phenylmethoxy)-
- 5-(Benzyloxy)pyrimidine-2-carbonitrile
5-(Benzyloxy)pyrimidine-2-carbonitrile is a target compound that is synthesized in an alkaline solution. It reacts with phenylcarbinol and is the synthetic method of 2-cyanopyrimidine. The synthesis of 5-(benzyloxy)pyridine-2-carbonitrile begins with the reaction of 2-aminopyrimidinethiol with benzaldehyde in an alkaline condition. The first step in this process is the formation of a nitrile from the amine. This is followed by the condensation of the nitrile and benzaldehyde to produce 5-(benzyloxy)pyridine-2-carbonitrile.
