Description:

N-Boc-3-methylene-piperidine is a cholinergic compound. It is an acetylcholine receptor agonist, which binds to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the central and peripheral nervous system. N-Boc-3-methylene-piperidine has been shown to be an effective model for studying the structure of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This drug has been found to be active in spirocyclic systems as well as 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions. The structural analogues of this drug are α7 nicotinic receptor agonists and have shown promising results in animal models of Alzheimer's disease.
