The introduction of (2S,4R)-1-tert-Butyl 2-methyl4-aminopyrrolidine-1,2-dicarboxylate into cells has been shown to have no cytotoxic effects. (2S,4R)-1-tert-Butyl 2-methyl4-aminopyrrolidine can also be used to image living cells with optical microscopy.
