Trans-2-Benzylamino-1-cyclohexanol is an efficient catalyst for the ring opening of epoxides. It can be used in a wide range of alcohols including methanol, ethanol, and propanol. Trans-2-Benzylamino-1-cyclohexanol is stable under acidic conditions and can be recycled. This catalytic agent has been shown to have high yields in reactions involving amines and acid catalyst. Trans-2-Benzylamino-1-cyclohexanol can also be used as a debenzylating reagent to convert benzyl ethers into phenols.
