Description

6-Bromo-2-phenyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine is a synthetic organic compound that belongs to the class of imidazopyridine. It is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 147°C and a molecular weight of 198.6 g/mol. 6-Bromo-2-phenyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine has been shown to have antiinflammatory effects by inhibiting the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) in cells. It also binds to DNA and prevents transcription and replication in bacteria. This agent is used as an antimalarial drug, but it may be carcinogenic.
