Product Information
- 1-(Bromomethyl)-4-butylbenzene
- Benzene, 1-(Bromomethyl)-4-Butyl-
4-Butylbenzylbromide is a chemical that belongs to the group of aziridines. It is used as a catalyst in the synthesis of benzyl compounds. 4-Butylbenzylbromide has been shown to have a chiral center and can be synthesized by reacting an aldimine with benzaldehyde and sodium sulfide in the presence of ruthenium. The FTIR spectrum shows that this compound has two functional groups: one is aromatic (benzyl) and the other is aliphatic (butyl). 4-Butylbenzylbromide can be converted into an aziridine by treatment with hydrogen gas, which then reacts with acetic acid to form acetamide.
