Product Information
- [(4-Bromobutoxy)Methyl]Benzene
- 4-(Benzyloxy)-butyl bromide
4-Benzyloxy-1-bromobutane is a novel drug candidate for the treatment of tuberculosis. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the biosynthesis of mycolic acids and other mycobacterial cell wall components, which are critical for the virulence of this bacterium. This compound also inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by binding to its regulatory protein, Mycobacterial Growth Regulator (MGR). 4-Benzyloxy-1-bromobutane may be used as an alternative to isoniazid because it does not inhibit the activity of cytochrome p450 enzymes.
4-Benzyloxy-1-bromobutane belongs to a class of organometallic compounds that includes drugs such as carbonyl iron and manganese complex. This type of compound is being researched as a potential therapeutic agent because they have been shown to have superior pharmacokinetic properties and reduced toxicity
