Description:

2-Bromo-6-tert-butylpyridine is a bidentate ligand that can be used for the synthesis of ruthenium complexes. This compound has been shown to be an effective catalyst in cross-coupling reactions, such as the Suzuki reaction. 2-Bromo-6-tert-butylpyridine is also useful in alkylation reactions, such as the Mitsunobu reaction and Rollover reaction. This ligand can be synthesized by mixing acetonitrile with magnesium and isopropyl bromide. The product spontaneously forms in a radical process.
