7-Benzyl-4-chloro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydropyrido[3,4-d]pyrimidine hydrochloride is an imidazole derivative that is used as a fungicide. It has been patented for use in the control of postharvest diseases of fruits and vegetables. 7BPCP can be applied to plants as a seed treatment or foliar spray. The compound inhibits the production of ethylene by binding to the ethylene receptor sites on plant cells. This action prevents fruit ripening and senescence, which reduces the risk for postharvest diseases.
