This drug exhibits its activity by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, which is necessary for the formation of the cell membrane in fungi. Tert-Butyl 4-(4-bromo-3,5-dimethylphenoxy)piperidine-1-carboxylate inhibits ergosterol synthesis by reversibly binding to cytochrome P450 and forming an adduct with a reactive thiol group on this enzyme. The alkyl groups in tert butyl 4-(4 bromo 3,5 dimethylphenoxy)piperidine 1 carboxylate are responsible for its anti fungal properties.
