4-Bromo-5-chloroanthranilic acid is a chemical used as an anticoccidial. It is a crystalline solid that is soluble in formamide and chlorinated solvents, but not in water. The compound can be produced by the reaction of phosphorus oxychloride with thionyl chloride, followed by the addition of sodium bromide and reduction with sodium bisulfite. 4-Bromo-5-chloroanthranilic acid has been shown to react with halofuginone (a fungicide) to form a crystalline product. This reaction may also be performed using formamide and hydrochloric acid as starting materials.
