5-Bromo-2-phenylpyrimidine (5BP) is a synthesised cyclic molecule that contains nitrogen atoms. It can be produced by the Suzuki coupling reaction of 5-bromo-2-phenylpyridinium bromide with an amine. 5BP has been used in devices to study the fluorescence of organic molecules and its application in cross-coupling reactions. 5BP has also been shown to have optical properties, including absorbance and emission maxima, which are dependent on the size of the molecule. The activation energy for this molecule can be determined using functional theory and it has been shown to have a thermal stability of around 2 hours at 1000 degrees Celsius.
