5-BroMo-4-chloro-2-(Methylthio)-7H-Pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyriMidine is a nucleoside that can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other nucleosides. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of bacterial growth, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Escherichia coli. The chloride substituents on this molecule are deprotected by treatment with HCl to yield the desired product.
