2-Butoxyaniline (2BA) is a molecule with the chemical formula C6H11NO. 2BA has properties that are intermediate between those of acetonitrile and diethylamine. 2BA can react with hexyl bromide to form an adduct, which can be used to estimate molecular size. The kinetics of this reaction have been studied and show that the rate of formation of the adduct increases as the temperature is increased. 2BA has also been shown to be acidic in aqueous solution, and can react with dodecyl chloride to form an ester, which may be useful for the synthesis of dyes.
2BA has been found to interact with dimethylformamide (DMF) through an auxochrome mechanism, and when mixed with dialkylamines at high temperatures, it forms hydrogen bonds. This molecule also interacts with other molecules through intermolecular hydrogen bonds and hydrogen bonds.
