Trans-4-aminocyclohexane carboxylic acid is a cyclohexanecarboxylic acid that is used in the production of 4-aminocyclohexane-1,2-dicarboxylic acid. This compound is used as a raw material for the production of polyurethanes and polyamides. Trans-4-aminocyclohexane carboxylic acid can be recycled from old tires and other sources of industrial waste. It can also be produced by isomerizing cis-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid. Trans-4-aminocyclohexane carboxylic acid has been shown to catalyze the hydrolysis of alkalis, solvents, and salifying agents.
