(S)-Bupropion L-tartaric acid salt is a chiral pharmaceutical intermediate. It has been shown to be an effective drug for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). The enantiomer, (R)-bupropion, is more potent than (S)-bupropion. It also has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties that may be due to its ability to reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-1β. The molecular weight of (S)-bupropion L-tartaric acid salt is 323.4 g/mol. This product must be stored at -20°C in order to prevent degradation.
