Product Information
- 2-Bromo-4-Methylthiazole-5-Carboxylic Acid
2-Bromo-4-methyl-1,3-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid (2BMC) is a potent inhibitor of the microsomal enzyme system. It binds to the active site of the enzyme and inhibits its activity by competitive inhibition. 2BMC has been shown to be toxic to rats at doses as low as 3mg/kg. This compound has also been used in optimization studies for other amides, brominating agents, copper compounds, and imidazolidinones. The related compound 2-(4'-Methylphenyl)-2H-[1,3']bithiazole-5'-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (MPBC) has been shown to inhibit the activity of human recombinant CYP2C9 with an IC50 value of 5μM. This may be due to its ability to bind with high affinity to the enzyme's active site and block access for substrate.
