Description:

3-Bromo-5-chloro-1,2,4-thiadiazole is a light emitting material with a quantum efficiency of about 50%. It has been shown to have an efficiency that is greater than that of fluorescent organic materials. 3-Bromo-5-chloro-1,2,4-thiadiazole can be used in devices such as organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic field effect transistors (OFETs). This material emits light when electrons are excited from the ground state to the singlet excited state by thermally activated processes. The transport mechanism for this excitation is not yet fully understood.
