Product Information
- Silane, bromotriethyl-
- Triethylsilyl bromide
- Triethylbromosilane
Bromotriethylsilane is a brominated organic chemical. It is used as a sealant and an additive to gasoline, as well as in the manufacture of other chemicals. Bromotriethylsilane has been shown to be effective in the treatment of autoimmune diseases due to its ability to inhibit the production of Th2 cells, which are associated with allergic reactions. Reaction products from the reaction of hydrochloric acid with bromotriethylsilane are toxic, and contact with these substances can cause skin irritation and burns. The chemical has been shown to have a high reactivity towards hydrogen chloride, phosphite, and chloride ions. Bromotriethylsilane also reacts with water to produce hydrobromic acid (HBr), which is an inorganic acid that can cause respiratory toxicity when inhaled.
