1,12-Benzfluoranthene is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is used in analytical chemistry and supramolecular chemistry. 1,12-Benzfluoranthene is a useful compound for binding experiments because of its hydroxyl group and aromatic ring. It has been shown to bind to the proton of water. 1,12-Benzfluoranthene has been used as a molecular model to study the effects of protonation on aromatic hydrocarbons. 1,12-Benzfluoranthene has also been used to study carbohydrate metabolism in the liver.
