4-Bromo-2-isopropyl phenyl methoxymethyl ether (BIPM) is a thyromimetic that is used in the treatment of thyroid diseases. BIPM is an analogue of thyroxine, which is a hormone that regulates metabolism and growth. It induces the production of more thyroxine by stimulating the thyroid gland to produce more hormones. BIPM has been shown to be effective in treating hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, goiter, and myxedema coma. It is also used as a diagnostic agent to measure serum levels of thyroxine.
