Description:

Bis(1-benzotriazolyl)methanethione is a yellow needle crystal with a melting point of about 190 °C. It is soluble in dioxane, alcohols, and cocl2. Bis(1-benzotriazolyl)methanethione can be prepared by reacting benzotriazole with sodium hydroxide in dioxane solution. The compound also has the ability to transfer electron density from one atom to another. It has been used as an intermediate in the preparation of various compounds such as amines, alcohols, and cocl2. This compound is insoluble in water and diffracts x-rays at a single crystal level.
Bis(1-benzotriazolyl)methanethione has been studied for its use as an anticancer agent due to its ability to induce apoptosis through dipole interactions.
