Benzo[b]benzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-d]thiophene is a benzothiophene-2-carboxylic acid that is expressed in Escherichia coli. The synthesis of benzo[b]benzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-d]thiophene has been scaled up to produce enough material for use in the transport properties study. Benzo[b]benzo[4,5]thieno[2,3-d]thiophene is a potential precursor for the acylation reaction as it contains two methoxy groups. This compound has been shown to have efficient electrochemical properties with an acceptor and donor site.
