Description:
n-Butanol-D10 is a primary alcohol that can be used for the synthesis of polymers, coatings and plastics. It is also used to produce polyurethane foams, which are commonly found in furniture and mattresses. This product is synthesised from butanol through a process called hydrogenation. The hydroxy group in n-butanol reacts with amines in the presence of a catalyst to form urethanes. NMR spectra show a high degree of molecular interaction between n-butanol molecules, which is why it has been used as a gelation agent.
