Product Information
- Benzophenone,4-(aminomethyl)-, hydrochloride
4-Benzoylbenzylamine hydrochloride (4BBAH) is a hydrophobic chemical that has been shown to be cytotoxic to cells in vitro. 4BBAH has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to DNA, preventing the synthesis of proteins essential for bacterial cell division. This compound has also been shown to induce neutrophil recruitment in vitro and in vivo. These effects are mediated by cytokines released by the neutrophils. 4BBAH is fluorescent and can be used for detection methods such as flow cytometric analysis or fluorescence microscopy. It is also superparamagnetic, which may be useful for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
