Description:
Benzyl 3-aminopropanoate hydrochloride is a cysteine prodrug that has been shown to have anti-apoptotic properties in vitro and in vivo. It has been optimized for human use by synthesizing analogs of this drug that are more permeable to the blood-brain barrier. Benzyl 3-aminopropanoate hydrochloride is an analog of N-(4-Aminobenzoyl)cysteine, which is used for treatment of liver disease caused by glycopeptide antibiotics, such as vancomycin, teicoplanin, or telavancin. This drug also has therapeutic potential for treating neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease.
