Tert-butyl 6-chloro-5-pivalamidopyridin-2-ylcarbamate is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth. It binds to the benzamide site on the enzyme cytosolic phosphoglycerate mutase, which is involved in the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and glycogen. This compound also has been shown to inhibit cancer cells in vitro and in vivo by binding to DNA and inhibiting transcription. Tert-butyl 6-chloro-5-pivalamidopyridin-2-ylcarbamate may be used as a chemotherapeutic agent for cancer patients, but it also can lead to impaired or damaged cells.
