Description:

5-Bromo-1-benzothiophene-3-carbaldehyde is a coumarin derivative that has been shown to inhibit the activity of cytochrome P450s (CYP2A6) and formyl lead molecules. The IC50 values for 5-bromo-1-benzothiophene-3-carbaldehyde were determined to be 10.0, 10.0, and 11.5 microM for CYP2A6, CYP1A2, and CYP2E1 respectively. This compound is also a potent inhibitor of carbonitrile formation with an IC50 value of 3.8 microM. It does not inhibit acetylcholinesterase at concentrations up to 50 microM.
