Product Information

Name:
2,6-Bis(4,5-dihydrooxazol-2-yl)pyridine
Synonyms:
  • 2-[6-(4,5-Dihydro-1,3-Oxazol-2-Yl)Pyridin-2-Yl]-4,5-Dihydro-1,3-Oxazole
Description:

2,6-Bis(4,5-dihydrooxazol-2-yl)pyridine (BDP) is a palladium catalyst that can be used in hydrogenation reactions. It has been shown to be a solid catalyst for the hydrogenation of carboxylic acids and ketones. BDP has also been used as an anti-inflammatory drug as it inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2. This compound is made from ethyl diazoacetate and 2,6-dichloropyridine by reaction with copper(II) bromide in a solvent such as ethanol or toluene. The yield of this compound is usually low due to its instability. BDP has been shown to emit light when it is excited at certain wavelengths, which makes it useful for research purposes.
