Product Information

Name:
1-Benzothiophen-6-amine
Synonyms:
  • Benzo[B]Thiophen-6-Amine
Description:

1-Benzothiophen-6-amine is a potent antitumor agent that is used to treat solid tumours. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of lung fibroblasts and tissues, which are important in the development of cancer. 1-Benzothiophen-6-amine inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by inhibiting their ability to take up glucose and synthesize purine nucleotides, thereby impairing both glycolysis and DNA synthesis. This agent also has efficient cytotoxic effects on tumour cell lines in nanomolar concentrations, with low toxicity for normal cells. The drug binds to cellular nucleic acid by reacting with the reactive hydroxy group on the benzothiophene ring. This binding prevents DNA replication and transcription, resulting in inhibition of protein synthesis and cell division.
