Product Information
- 2-Azetidinecarboxylic acid, 4-oxo-, phenylmethyl ester
- Benzyl 4-Oxoazetane-2-Carboxylate
Benzyl 4-oxoazetidine-2-carboxylate is a reversible inhibitor of amino acid derivatives. It is reversibly alkylated by benzyl and irreversibly inhibited by proteases. Benzyl 4-oxoazetidine-2-carboxylate has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the activity of enzymes involved in the synthesis of various amino acids. It also inhibits pancreatic enzyme activities, including proteases and other enzymes involved in protein synthesis. The irreversible inhibition of these enzymes may be due to the covalent binding of benzyl 4-oxoazetidine-2-carboxylate with the active site of the enzyme.
