Product Information

Name:
Bambuterol monocarbamate
Synonyms:
  • Dimethylcarbamic acid 3-[2-[(1,1-dimethylethyl)amino]-1-hydroxyethyl]-5-hydroxyphenyl esterD 2439
Description:

Bambuterol monocarbamate is an anti-asthma drug. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to bambuterol, its active form. Bambuterol monocarbamate has been shown to be synergistic with statins and eluting agents, such as atorvastatin. The interaction of bambuterol monocarbamate with these drugs may be due to the inhibition of cholinesterases, which are enzymes that break down acetylcholine. This inhibition leads to increased acetylcholine levels and improved bronchodilation in the lungs. Bambuterol also inhibits uptake of butyrylcholinesterase into cells, which may increase butyrylcholine levels in the body and result in muscle relaxation.
