Description

3-Benzoylbenzyl bromide is a sulfhydryl reagent that binds to the active site of heparin, hydroxyapatite, and other glycosaminoglycans. It has potent inhibition against a number of enzymes, including catalase, peroxidase, and ribonuclease A. 3-Benzoylbenzyl bromide binds to the sulfhydryl groups of these enzymes by forming covalent bonds with their histidine residues. This product can be used for the preparation of enzyme inhibitors or as a general biocide. 3-Benzoylbenzyl bromide is inactivated by neutral pH solutions.
