Description

cis-1,3-O-Benzylideneglycerol is a solid catalyst that can be used to deodorize organic compounds. It has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against a wide range of microorganisms. cis-1,3-O-Benzylideneglycerol has been shown to be active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi and yeast. cis-1,3-O-Benzylideneglycerol is not active against acidophilic bacteria due to its acidic pH. This molecule reacts with nucleophiles in the environment and is activated by acids such as carbon tetrachloride or sulfuric acid. The reaction mechanism of cis-1,3-O-benzylideneglycerol is similar to the mechanism of other carbonyl group containing molecules that are used in surface methodology.
