2-Benzyloxyaniline is a cyclic compound that is found in nature. It has a catalytic function and is able to form a covalent bond with a ligand, such as an allyl group. 2-Benzyloxyaniline can be used in assays to detect the presence of specific molecules and has been shown to have anticonvulsant properties in mice. The tg2576 mouse model displays epileptiform activity when treated with 2-benzyloxyaniline. This activity was reduced by l-glutamic acid, which is known to be involved in the regulation of neuronal excitability. 2-Benzyloxyaniline also binds to hydrogen bonding interactions that are important for supramolecular structures of proteins and other compounds.
