Description

Bifeprunox mesylate is a drug that belongs to the group of ampakine-type drugs. It has been shown in animal tests to increase levels of serum prolactin, which may be related to its ability to bind to dopamine D2 receptors in the caudate putamen. Bifeprunox mesylate has been shown in clinical trials with schizophrenic patients to reduce psychotic symptoms, including auditory hallucinations and delusions. The drug also has been studied for use in combination with other medications as a treatment for neuropsychiatric disorders, such as Parkinson's disease. Side effects of bifeprunox mesylate include headache, nausea, dizziness, insomnia, and constipation.
