Product Information
- Methanesulfonothioic acid S-[2-[[5-[(3aS,4S,6aR)-hexahydro-2-oxo-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-4-yl]-1-oxopentyl]amino]ethyl] esterMTSEA -BIOTIN
N-Biotinylaminoethyl methanethiosulfonate is a synthetic molecule that binds to the α1 subunit of the Na+,K+-ATPase enzyme. It has been shown to inhibit the inactivation of this enzyme, which is necessary for the transport of sodium and potassium ions across cell membranes. The Na+,K+-ATPase plays an important role in nerve conduction, heart function, and immune response and is also involved in serotonin release from platelets. N-Biotinylaminoethyl methanethiosulfonate binds to the α1 subunit by forming disulfide bonds with cysteine residues. This binding leads to increased activity of the enzyme by preventing its inactivation by molecular chaperones such as protein disulfide isomerase.
