Product Information
1,23-Bis(maleimido)heptaethyleneglycol is a crosslinker that is used in the preparation of hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers. It reacts with single-stranded DNA and forms covalent bonds to produce stable duplexes. This process can be enhanced by thermal denaturation of the solution at high temperatures to increase the reactivity of monomers. 1,23-Bis(maleimido)heptaethyleneglycol reacts with dsDNA to form more stable dsDNA duplexes by way of reaction between primary amine groups and aldehyde groups on the opposite strand. These reactions are carried out under conditions where monomers are present in excess, but polymerization does not occur because there is no free radical initiator.
