5-Bromo-2-methoxy-4-methylpyridine (5BMPM) is a boronic acid that has been used in the synthesis of a number of receptor ligands, including boronic acid and boronate esters. 5BMPM is an important intermediate in the Suzuki coupling reaction, which is a palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction. This analog has high affinity for its target receptor, as demonstrated by its ability to bind to numerous receptors with nanomolar affinities and produce functional responses. 5BMPM has also been used in the preparation of substituted derivatives, such as amides and nitriles.
