Description

The enzyme R-2-Bromobutyric acid amidating monooxygenase (RBM) catalyzes the amidation of a carboxylic acid with an amine to form an amide, and it is involved in the biosynthesis of levetiracetam. The enzyme has been found to be stereoselective for L-amino acids over D-amino acids. It is also involved in deracemization, which is the conversion of racemic carboxylic acid to a single enantiomer. RBM dehalogenates fluoroacetate, which is an industrial chemical used as a herbicide and insecticide.
