N-(2-Bromoethyl)urethane is an insect hormone analog that is used in research and as a juvenile hormone analogue. It has been shown to have similar biological activity to the natural hormone and was found to be effective at inhibiting the growth of certain insects. N-(2-Bromoethyl)urethane binds with high affinity to a receptor site on the anterior end of the prothorax, which is involved in molting. This chemical also has a number of analogs that are used for research purposes.
