Description:
3-(Bromomethyl)-1,2-benzisoxazole (BMZ) is a growth factor that has been shown to be active against influenza virus and bacteria. BMZ inhibits the growth of influenza virus by binding to the ribonucleoprotein complexes in infected cells and inhibiting the synthesis of viral RNA. BMZ also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosome and inhibiting protein synthesis. This compound has been shown to be effective at treating tumors in mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit angiogenesis. BMZ can also induce apoptosis in cancer cells.
