Description:
D,L-Buthionine-(S,R)-sulfoximine is a basic compound with a sulfur atom. It has been shown to have antioxidative properties. D,L-Buthionine-(S,R)-sulfoximine can be used in the treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria or viruses that are sensitive to oxidative injury. It also has inhibitory properties against toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), which may be useful for treating inflammatory bowel disease. D,L-Buthionine-(S,R)-sulfoximine can also be used as an anti-inflammatory agent and an antioxidant in eye disorders. This compound can be used in the treatment of radiation injuries and eye disorders due to its ability to inhibit cell nuclei from dying by preventing DNA fragmentation.
