Tert-butyl 4-bromobenzoate is a benzoate derivative that is used in the synthesis of amides. It can be synthesized by reacting butyllithium with tert-butyl bromide and 4-bromobenzoyl chloride in tetrahydrofuran at 0°C. This process leads to the formation of tert-butyl 4-bromobenzoate and butyllithium. Tert-butyl 4-bromobenzoate can also be synthesized by cross coupling two molecules of benzaldehyde with one molecule of boron trifluoride etherate and lithium aluminum hydride in tetrahydrofuran. The reaction proceeds with great efficiency and yields tert-butyl 4-bromobenzoate as a single product, which is then hydrolyzed to produce benzoic acid. Tert-Butyl 4-Bromobenzoate
