Product Information
- 2-n-Butyl-5-chloro-1H-imidazole
2-Butyl-5-chloro-1H-imidazole is an antimycobacterial agent that belongs to the group of imidazoles. It is a small molecule that has been shown to have minimal toxicity in mice and rats. 2-Butyl-5-chloro-1H-imidazole has been shown to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus and tuberculosis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the growth of mycobacteria by inhibiting their DNA synthesis. 2-Butyl-5-chloro-1H-imidazole also inhibits phospholipase A2, thereby reducing the production of arachidonic acid. This leads to decreased levels of prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and thromboxanes, which are inflammatory mediators involved in asthma and other diseases.
