Description:
3-Bromo-5-nitro-1,2,4-triazole is a photophysical and photovoltaic molecule. It absorbs light in the visible range and converts it into electrical energy. 3-Bromo-5-nitro-1,2,4-triazole has been used to produce epoxides from acetonitrile in an electron transfer process. It has also been used as an acceptor in the reduction of nitro groups to amines using NaBH4. 3-Bromo-5-nitro-1,2,4-triazole can be alkylated with chloromethyl chloride to produce arylmethyl chloride compounds.
