Boc-L-threonine dicyclohexylamine salt is a synthetic, cyclic, natural product. It is an epimer of L-valine and has a configurational stereochemistry. Boc-L-threonine dicyclohexylamine salt is synthesized by the cyclopeptide pathway from L-aspartic acid and glycine. The oxazoline ring is formed by cyclodehydration of the thiazoline ring on the aspartate side chain in the presence of catalytic amounts of hydrazoic acid and base. This reaction can also be used to produce heterocycles such as pyrrolidines and piperidines. Boc-L-threonine dicyclohexylamine salt is enantiopure, which means that its structure contains no chiral centers and it has only one type of atom in each asymmetric unit.
