4,5-Bis(2-methoxyethoxy)anthranilic acid ethyl ester is an anti-cancer drug that belongs to the class of formamidines. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to formic acid and its active form, 4,5-bis(2-methoxyethoxy)anthranilic acid. This agent inhibits the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting ribonucleotide reductase and DNA synthesis. 4,5-Bis(2-methoxyethoxy)anthranilic acid ethyl ester has been shown to be effective against breast cancer cells, although it has not yet been tested on other types of cancer cells.
